How do parents and friends affect your coming of age?
In my opinion friends have a big impact on the person you become when you grow. The reason i say this is because if you have freinds that like to study and do good in school , then you get inspired to do good too, but if you have friends who smoke and get drunk, then you will most likely get peer pressured into smoking and drinking. Friends also have an impact on you because they are the people who inspire you to do how you do.
I think that family also has an impact on the way you act because your family tells you right from wrong. You're parents are the people that always inspire you do do good and because a successful person. You're family are also the people you usually care about most and love, losing a family member can put posotive or negative impacts on someones lives.
In my opinion family has more impact on you then your friends, the reason why i say this is because family is always the people that stay by you no matter what your going through. As you grow up your friends may change but your family always stays the same. No matter what happens through out your life , your family are the people who do not change and stay with you.

Reading Responce Coming of Age

Title: The outsiders
Author: S.E. Hinton
The book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is a book about friendship. This book taught me multiple things and showed me a new way too look at my friends.
This book taught me many lessons but one main lesson it taught me was to always confess for your mistakes instead of hiding them. I say this because in this book Pony and Johnny ran away when the killed the kid from the Socs. In my opinion I think they should have stayed and confessed because then it would not lead to future events that got Johnny killed. Even though Johnny died as a hero, he lost his life from taking someone else’s.
I also like this book very much because I can relate it to the real world events. I can relate it because many people do not show what they feel because they feel like they would get mocked on or teased. Through out the book Dally showed a tough and strong personality, but when Johnny and Pony went into the house on fire to save the kids , for the first time Dally was scared. He wasn’t scared of the fire itself but he was scared he might lose them. Dally showed he care by jumping into the house of fire after the kids. Johnny died without knowing how much people really cared for him. Dally loved Johnny, and the loss affected him deeply.
This book showed many symbolic and meaningful scenes. I think the most symbolic scene was how at the end, in the letter Johnny wrote to Pony he told Pony to stay gold. In my opinion I think that this meant that Pony had a good heart, and he was a nice person. Pony was nice and always willing to help. What Johnny meant was he wanted Pont to stay the way he is and not change for anyone or any reason.
This book really meant a lot to me , and it showed me what true friendship is. Even though Johnny died, he left with something in mind. He left with hope that one day the Greesers and the Socs could sit together, as equal, as normal people.

home work for coming of age

Through out childhood and teen age years a person learns a lot of lessons and goes through
many phases. Childhood is a phase to have fun and learn simple life rules, such as “ABC”and counting
and mostly learning how to speak. Childhood is a fun phase a life but then… you have to grow up.
When you’re a child, you do not no what to do. You’re not mature enough to make your own
decisions. But then when a child begins to grow up he learns more and more about life. Slowly a person
makes mistakes and learns from them. In your teenage years a person makes mistakes and learns and
carries on form them. In a persons teenage years they come across many problems such as peer-
pressure. A teenager may get pressured into doing many things that they don’t want too , such as
smoking drinking and doing drugs, but you grow upon those decisions and know not to make them
again.
As a adult, you come upon many responsibilities such as a family job or maybe college. But in
adulthood a person learns to be himself and act more mature. As a adult you come to know that life is
more then fun and games and you become more serious about life. Adult is basically the years were you
become what you want to become.

Narrative Poem
the winterlight shining through
white bright like the worst type of flu
Imagine soaring bak to earth falling heard preaching for words.
imagine a field of sorrow and emptyness. growing it's colors and finding it's way bak to reality, growing it's wings bak to haunt me.
The time for love and finding it. The time for being who you demolished
The time for being something you never where
Spring falls steady and then it just stops
white bright like the worst type of flu
Imagine soaring bak to earth falling heard preaching for words.
imagine a field of sorrow and emptyness. growing it's colors and finding it's way bak to reality, growing it's wings bak to haunt me.
The time for love and finding it. The time for being who you demolished

Revised Reading Responce
The book that I'm reading is called wrecked. This book really inspired me and showed me that reading really is fun. This book talked about a normal girl, and her best friend. They were always together or on the phone with each other.
Two girls named Anna and Ellen are best friends since they were small. They do everything together. They are always together, or on the phone. One day the two friends decide to go to a party. All they wanna do is have a little fun at the party, so they get a little drunk. On the way home they get into a car accident and both friends get hurt really bad.
Anna wakes up in the hospital, to the news of finding out that the girl in the other car got killed. They find out that the other girl's name was Cameron who was also her brothers girl friend! Anna's parents tell her that Cameron was on the wrong side of the road, and that it wasn't Anna's fault, but knowing that Anna has killed someone she feels bad. She wants to write a letter to Cameron's parents telling them that she is sorry. Soon it comes up to the point where Anna begins to start having nightmares.
Anna soon see's a pyshologist and finds out that she has Paustramatic Stress Disorder, because of all the stress in her life. Her relationship with her brother gets a little bad and they begin fighting a little to much. Her life is tough because of all the drama going on, and how her father treats her. Anna gets help from her doctor and slowly starts to recover.

3 responses to student blogs
Through out all the blogs I've seen and read many blogs but one blog i really liked was Sabrina's blog. The reason why i liked her blog a lot was because she showed feelings from different parts of views. What i mean by this is she wrote that the girl had to move to California because she wanted to be a lawyer, but the girl really thinks that the mom wants to get rid of her, when really it was because the mom doesn't want her daughters dreams to be crushed. She also talks about how when the girl moves she finds out its not that bad and she meets new people and has a new boy friend ! But as you know a girl would not forget her past and starts to miss California. I think overall Sabrina's blog showed a lot of feelings and understands.
Another blog post i really liked was Samuel's blog called "Show your teeth", the reason why i really liked this blog was because it was rap and it was about the social life of some people. I think his rhyming pattern makes the reader really want too read more. Another thing i really like about his blog post was that he used old language which made me like it, he said someone put a gat in his back , but now no one uses that word
Last i really liked olivia's post because her poem has alot of meaning. She talks about different phases that the rose goes through, and by the end after the rose has been through everything. It dies like everything else.

My papa Waltz
Recently, we read the poem My papa waltz. We has a deep discussion about this in class. Most of my class and i thought this this poem was talking about a drunk father who was abusing his child.
I personally thought that the father was drunk but many people disagreed. I thought that he was drink because in the text it said " the whiskey on your breathe could make a small boy dizzy" Now i know when you drink whiskey or beer you don't necessarily have to be drunk, but it said it can make the boy dizzy, in my mind i think that that means he drank a lot and he must be at least tipsy.
Another reason i thought that the father was drunk was because it also said at every step you missed my right ear scraped a buckle. Now the way this text was put, i thought that it meant the father could keep his balance, it said with every step he missed his son's right ear scraped a buckle which means he was hurting his kid, weather it was on purpose to because he was drunk.
People in my class thought this poem was just a story of a father and son playing. They said that just because he drank doesn't mean that he is drunk, he could be trying to have fun with his kid. It could be a father just trying to get along with his child. i think that some people got the wrong idea of the poem because i don't get why the author would even start off the poem saying that the whiskey in your breathe can make a small boy dizzy. If it had no importance then why would the author even mention it.
In conclusion, i think that this poem talks about a drunk father who is purposely, or accidently abusing his child, and does not know it.
