Writing promt #2

How do parents and friends affect your coming of age?

In my opinion friends have a big impact on the person you become when you grow. The reason i say this is because if you have freinds that like to study and do good in school , then you get inspired to do good too, but if you have friends who smoke and get drunk, then you will most likely get peer pressured into smoking and drinking. Friends also have an impact on you because they are the people who inspire you to do how you do.
I think that family also has an impact on the way you act because your family tells you right from wrong. You're parents are the people that always inspire you do do good and because a successful person. You're family are also the people you usually care about most and love, losing a family member can put posotive or negative impacts on someones lives.
In my opinion family has more impact on you then your friends, the reason why i say this is because  family is always the people that stay by you no matter what your going through. As you grow up your friends may change but your family always stays the same. No matter what happens through out your life , your family are the people who do not change and stay with you.

Reading Responce Coming of Age

Moeez Akmal
Title: The outsiders
Author: S.E. Hinton

The book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is a book about friendship. This book taught me multiple things and showed me a new way too look at my friends.
This book taught me many lessons but one main lesson it taught me was to always confess for your mistakes instead of hiding them. I say this because in this book Pony and Johnny ran away when the killed the kid from the Socs. In my opinion I think they should have stayed and confessed because then it would not lead to future events that got Johnny killed. Even though Johnny died as a hero, he lost his life from taking someone else’s.
I also like this book very much because I can relate it to the real world events. I can relate it because many people do not show what they feel because they feel like they  would get mocked on or teased. Through out the book Dally showed a tough and strong personality, but when Johnny and Pony went into the house on fire to save the kids , for the first time Dally was scared. He wasn’t scared of the fire itself but he was scared he might lose them. Dally showed he care by jumping into the house of fire after the kids. Johnny died without knowing how much people really cared for him. Dally loved Johnny, and the loss affected him deeply.
This book showed many symbolic and meaningful scenes. I think the most symbolic scene was how at the end, in the letter Johnny wrote to Pony he told Pony to stay gold. In my opinion I think that this meant that Pony had a good heart, and he was a nice person. Pony was nice and always willing to help. What Johnny meant was he wanted Pont to stay the way he is and not change for anyone or any reason.
This book really meant a lot to me , and it showed me what true friendship is. Even though Johnny died, he left with something in mind. He left with hope that one day the Greesers and the Socs could sit together, as equal, as normal people.

home work for coming of age

Moeez Akmal
Blogger
Through out childhood and teen age years a person learns a lot of lessons and goes through
many phases. Childhood is a phase to have fun and learn simple life rules, such as “ABC”and counting
and mostly learning how to speak. Childhood is a fun phase a life but then… you have to grow up.
When you’re a child, you do not no what to do. You’re not mature enough to make your own
decisions. But then when a child begins to grow up he learns more and more about life. Slowly a person
makes mistakes and learns from them. In your teenage years a person makes mistakes and learns and
carries on form them. In a persons teenage years they come across many problems such as peer-
pressure. A teenager may get pressured into doing many things that they don’t want too , such as
smoking drinking and doing drugs, but you grow upon those decisions and know not to make them
again.

As a adult, you come upon many responsibilities such as a family job or maybe college. But in
adulthood a person learns to be himself and act more mature. As a adult you come to know that life is
more then fun and games and you become more serious about life. Adult is basically the years were you
become what you want to become.

Narrative Poem

the winterlight shining through
white bright like the worst type of flu
Imagine soaring bak to earth falling heard preaching for words.
imagine a field of sorrow and emptyness. growing it's colors and finding it's way bak to reality, growing it's wings bak to haunt me.

The time for love and finding it. The time for being who you demolished
The time for being something you never where
Spring falls steady and then it just stops

Revised Reading Responce

The book that I'm reading is called wrecked. This book really inspired me and showed me that reading really is fun. This book talked about a normal girl, and her best friend. They were always together or on the phone with each other.
Two girls named Anna and Ellen are best friends since they were small. They do everything together. They are always together, or on the phone. One day the two friends decide to go to a party. All they wanna do is have a little fun at the party, so they get a little drunk. On the way home they get into a car accident and both friends get hurt really bad.
Anna wakes up in the hospital, to the news of finding out that the girl in the other car got killed. They find out that the other girl's name was Cameron who was also her brothers girl friend! Anna's parents tell her that Cameron was on the wrong side of the road, and that it wasn't Anna's fault, but knowing that Anna has killed someone she feels bad. She wants to write a letter to Cameron's parents telling them that she is sorry. Soon it comes up to the point where Anna begins to start having nightmares.
Anna soon see's a pyshologist and finds out that she has Paustramatic Stress Disorder, because of all the stress in her life. Her relationship with her brother gets a little bad and they begin fighting a little to much. Her life is tough because of all the drama going on, and how her father treats her. Anna gets help from her doctor and slowly starts to recover.

3 responses to student blogs

Through out all the blogs I've seen and read many blogs but one blog i really liked was Sabrina's blog. The reason why i liked her blog a lot was because she showed feelings from different parts of views. What i mean by this is she wrote that the girl had to move to California because she wanted to be a lawyer, but the girl really thinks that the mom wants to get rid of her, when really it was because the mom doesn't want her daughters dreams to be crushed. She also talks about how when the girl moves she finds out its not that bad and she meets new people and has a new boy friend ! But as you know a girl would not forget her past and starts to miss California. I think overall Sabrina's blog showed a lot of feelings and understands.
Another blog post i really liked was Samuel's blog called "Show your teeth", the reason why i really liked this blog was because it was rap and it was about the social life of some people. I think his rhyming pattern makes the reader really want too read more. Another thing i really like about his blog post was that he used old language which made me like it, he said someone put a gat in his back , but now no one uses that word
Last i really liked olivia's post because her poem has alot of meaning. She talks about different phases that the rose goes through, and by the end after the rose has been through everything. It dies like everything else.

My papa Waltz

Recently, we read the poem My papa waltz. We has a deep discussion about this in class. Most of my class and i thought this this poem was talking about a drunk father who was abusing his child.
I personally thought that the father was drunk but many people disagreed. I thought that he was drink because in the text it said " the whiskey on your breathe could make a small boy dizzy" Now i know when you drink whiskey or beer you don't necessarily have to be drunk, but it said it can make the boy dizzy, in my mind i think that that means he drank a lot and he must be at least tipsy.
Another reason i thought that the father was drunk was because it also said at every step you missed my right ear scraped a buckle. Now the way this text was put, i thought that it meant the father could keep his balance, it said with every step he missed his son's right ear scraped a buckle which means he was hurting his kid, weather it was on purpose to because he was drunk.
People in my class thought this poem was just a story of a father and son playing. They said that just because he drank doesn't mean that he is drunk, he could be trying to have fun with his kid. It could be a father just trying to get along with his child. i think that some people got the wrong idea of the poem because i don't get why the author would even start off the poem saying that the whiskey in your breathe can make a small boy dizzy. If it had no importance then why would the author even mention it.
In conclusion, i think that this poem talks about a drunk father who is purposely, or accidently abusing his child, and does not know it.

Reading Responce march 9, 2011

Recently, i finished the book Holes by Andrew Davis, this book was a very interesting book and has inspired me a lot. I learned a lot of lessons from this book and can relate to it.
One thing i learned from this book is, crime never pays . I can say this because even though Stanley didn't rob the sneakers he was punished, but in the prison he met many people who were there because of all the wrong doings they had done. Even Zero, ( kid who caused Stanley to come to prison) was there. Reading this book i realized that crime would never get you any were, and can cause many serious consequences that make you wish you never committed it.
I can relate to this book because, when i was reading this book i saw that Stanley Yelnats, was punished for a crime that he didn't commit and was sent off to prison. Often times at home, when my brother does something i get blamed for it and get punished, but obviously not so toughly. I also can relate to this book because of guilt, sometimes when i do something, someone else gets punished for it, and i feel bad. In this book at the end when Zero couldn't hold it he finally confessed to doing the crime Stanley was punished for.
Another thing, i learned is hard work pays off. What i mean by this is even though Stanley didn't commit a crime he learned a lot from this Prison, i think this because he got too see the outside world. He kind of learned a lesson, because he saw how everyone who committed crimes, were punished for what they did. So in a way he learned not to do stuff that would get him into trouble like that.
In conclusion, i learned many things from this book. i realized that crime never pays, and that hard work always pays off, i also related to the book in some ways. I really like this book and hope to read it again soon.

Social awareness

A book that I read was Sixth Grade Secrets, This book showed me alot because it shoed me how in middle school no one really cares ho s feelings they are hurting, they showed how people hurt ach other for no reason, the main character, Laura went through alot, she went through because bullied, blackmailed and even got her hair cut off. I think that this was really important, and it hurt to see what people can do too each other, but at the end they all learned thir lesson and became good friends.

"Crazy In Love" by- Eminem

[Ann Wilson's voice]
I Tell myself that I'm doing alright
Nothing else to do tonight but
To go Crazy, Crazy On You
Lemme go Crazy, Crazy on you
youuuuuuuuu

[Verse 1]
Can't you see what you do to me baby?
You make me crazy, you make me act like a maniac.
I'm like a lunatic, you make me sick
You truly are the only one who can do this to me
You just make me get so crazy.
I go skitzo, I get so insane I just go skitzophrenic
One minute I want to slit your throat
The next I want to sex.
You make me crazy,
the way we act like 2 maniacs in the sac
We fuck like 2 jackrabbits
And maybe that's a bad habit.
Cuz the next day we're right back at it
In the same exact pattern
What the fuck is the matter with us
We can't figure out if it's
Lust or it's love
What's sad is what's attracting us to each other
They say that every man grows up to marry his own mother.
Which would explain why you're such a motherfucking bitch
But I stay and still stick it out with you even though I just hit you today
But you deserve it you hit me first and provoked me to choke you
Just cuz I came home late last night crawled in bed and I woke you.
But if there's one thing about you I admire its, baby,
Because you stay with me, maybe, because you're as crazy as I am
Cuz when I look at you I can see an angel in your eyes
But if I look deeper inside I see your freakish little side.
Like a devil in disguise,
You're always full of surprises
Always pullin' devises
Out your purse, little vibrators and dildos
You fucked yourself so much
You barely feel those anymore
You're only 24 but you're plenty more mature
Than those other little hoes
Who just act like little girls
Like they're in middle school still
You're crazy sexy cool, chillin
You play your position
You never step out of line
Even though I stay in your business
You've always kept out of mine.
I wonder whats on your mind
Sometimes they say love is blind
Maybe that's why the first time I dotted your eye
You ain't see a sign.

[with Chorus]
Or maybe you did Maybe you like being shoved
Maybe cuz we're crazy in loooove

[Chorus]
Crazy on you
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy crazy on youuuuuuuuu

[Verse 2]

You're the ink to my paper
Where my pen is to my pad
The moral, the very fiber
The whole substance to my rap.
You are my reason for being
The meaning of my existence
If it wasn't for you
I would never be able to spit this
As intense I do and the irony
Is you rely on me as much
as I rely on you to inspire me like you do.
You provide me the lighter fluid to fuel my fire
You're my entire supply
Gas, the match, the igniter.
The only way that I am able to stay so stable
Is you're the legs to my table
If you were to break I'd fall on my face.
But I'm always going to make you feel
I don't need you as much as I really need you
So you don't use it to your advantage.
But you're essential to me
You're the air I breathe
I believe if you ever leave me
I'd probably have no reason to be.
You are the Kim to my Marshall
You're the Slim to my Shady
The Dre to my Eminem
The Elaina to my Hailey.
You are the word I am looking for when
I'm trying to describe how I feel inside
And the right one just won't come to my mind.
You're like the pillar that props me up
The beam that supports me
The bitch who never took half,
The wife who never divorced me.
You're like the root to my evil
You let my devil come out me
You let me beat the shit out you
Before you beat the shit out me.

[with Chorus]

And no matter how much
Too much is never enough
Maybe cuz we're crazy in loooove

[Chorus]
I'm crazy on you
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy crazy on youuuuuuuuu

Eminem is a really good rapper, i think he shows in this how well he understands the concept of his relationship and even if its not the best he still rather have it over anything.

Social Awareness

Walking down from ocean parkway, to fort hamilton train station is a long 2 avenue gap. Every morning, for the past 3 years that i have attended M.s.51 i have seen a guy outside the train station. This person is a ordinary human being on this planet, but i can assure that this man has been working harder then any man i no. This man only has one arm and hand, and sells news papers from rise and day break, he has made his living off of this man, has shown me what hope really is, and even if he isn't living in the best way, he works for what he has, and from the bottom of my heart i know one day he will be successful.

Be more Chill

Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini, is a very interesting book i read. In this book Jeremy, a normal wimpy kid,a kid whos known to be a dork, he wanted to be popular, he wanted a girl. One day a boy from school told him there was a computer you can buy to install into your mind which helps you. He agreed and bought the computer. After i think thay Jeremy really changed. I think that he became more selfish when he started hanging out with the cooler people. I think that Jeremy really thought that being cool was everything and in my opinion he was wrong. Through out this he hurt many people and didnt care, but at the end he eneded up with nothing.
Jeremy was a normal kid turned into a devil. He did many stupid things in life, but in the end i think he learned his lesson by seeing his mom cry. I think that Jeremy learned that being cool was not everything, but loving people and caring meant alot, i think he learning you didnt have to BE MORE CHILL to be a good person.
I think that The main reason that Jeremy did this was because a girl that he really liked.( Christine) I think that if Jeremy didnt want Christine so bad he would have never gotten the Squip( Computer) installed into his head. But in the end Jeremy saw that Christine didnt like the computer, that taught Jeremy how to be cool, but she actaully liked the person that he truely was from the inside. When Jeremy realized this it was already too late, he could not get another chance, becasue Christine now hated him for what he had become. To say sorry at the end Jeremy wrote a book about how it all happened, and why he did it, because he knew Christine would not wanna talk to him. That was the end. There was no second chances, too read more about this book, you can go to http://www.articlesbase.com/agriculture-articles/be-more-chill-3043573.htmlhttp://www.articlesbase.com/agriculture-articles/be-more-chill-3043573.html

I hope they make another book about this.

Mother To Son ( Poem)

Oh son, yes you know,
the problems we had,
i try my best to hide them,
but i never pass,
i hope you have a better future then i do,
and definetly don't have to face what i did,
i no you were embarassed when i use to ask for money,
but the only reason i did it is for you honey,
i no i did things that made you look bad infront of your friends,
but when im gone,
please remember me,
remember that i always loved you

Mother to Son (Reflection)

I thought that the poem, (Mother to son), was a really interesting poem with alot of meaning. I thought this because i thought that it was meaningful because, it showed how a mother was telling her son, that even though life wasnt a crystal stair for them, it wasnt all that bad either, just because they were poor didnt mean they couldnt afford love. I thought this poem was really nice because not only did it show a story, it showed meaning. it showed how someone can love anyone else in such a good way and not care about how they are living. I think that the mother was true to her son becasue she didnt care about money. I thought that even though they didnt have the brightest life, they had each other and that was enough for them.

An Appreciation

Freak the Mighty, was a great book. I appreciated this book for many several different reasons. This book showed a lot of connections to my life, friendship, and it definitely taught me a lot of lessons !
One way this book showed connections to my life is because, one connection was that Max is a big person and looks tough but he is really soft and cares about people from the inside (but does not like to show it), and people tell me that I'm really big and I look tough, but deep down i care for people even if i don't like to show it and don't like them.
This book showed alot of friendship because in this book, Freak and Max do whatever they want to do, whenever they want to do it. For example, when Freak told max that he wanted to go on a adventure at 3 AM to find treasure, Max did not even complain all he said was okay, and they snuck out for each other. Even when Freak died Max showed that he really cared about Freak and even though Freak was gone, there friendship lived !
Freak the mighty, this book taught me a lot of lessons, one lesson this book has taught me is to always care about the people while they are with you, what i mean is that Max loved Freak as a friend, but he was hesitant to say that Freak actually was a friend. I think that if you care about someone you should just tell them and say it before its too late and you lose your chance.
In conclusion, i thought that Freak the Mighty was a Mighty book indeed. This book showed me reality and true friendship, how one person can love another, or be destined to meet someone. Freak might be gone, But Freak the Mighty will never die. :)

Reflection

Freak the Mighty.

Freak the mighty was a good book, I think this because it showed a lot of meaning, trust and most of all friendship. I thought that this book was also good because it showed deep feelings.
One thing that i appreciate, is how Max says," I never had a brain until Freak came along and let me borrow his for a while, and that's the truth, the unvanquished truth is how freak would say it." I appreciate this because I think it shows a lot of meaning and friendship! This shows a lot of meaning because i think that it means that Freak and Max are really good friends. Also when I was starting this book, and i read this, i thought to myself that this book was really interesting because it seems like this quote means a lot. I also liked his quote because it shows how Max thinks he's dumb without Freaks help but that isn't true because Freak just helps Max by telling him he can do it.
Another thing I appreciate is the way Freak died. What i mean by this is that he thought of everything as imagination, he use to make up crazy adventures to teach Max what fun actually was, and since Freak didn't want to hurt Max, he told Max he was getting a robot body, and that he was the first person. He used his imagination to help Max and show him that everything is possible. This was another thing that i really appreciated about the book.
Last i appreciate, that Freak and Max had a crazy friendship, What i mean is that whenever Freak told Max that they were going on a adventure, Max would say okay and tag along, for example when Freak told Max that they were going to find treasure at 3am in the morning, Max tagged along without complaining or anything.
In conclusion, i thought that Freak the Mighty was a really a good book, that showed a lot of meaning and care. This book showed me a lot of lessons and gave me alot of things to appreciate. This was one of my most favorite books, i cant wait to read the next one.

Charlotte's Web

In the book charolettes web wilbur went through many changes, I think
that one of the big ideas in the book charolettes web was change.
I think that one of the big ideas was change because they showed how
wilbur started off from nothing, what ii mean by this is when he was
born Fern's father said he was too weak to live and he should just be
slaughtered, but with the love of aa little girl and the determination
she convinced her dad to let her take care of Wilbur. Later on in the
book because of Fern's hard work, Wilbur turned out to be a unordinary
big that became famous.
Another change in Chorolette's Web was that Fern started off as aa
little girl who loved Wilbur, and wanted to spend as much time with him
as she could, she went to the barn everyday just to watch the pig she
helped grow. After, Fern grows mature && stops visiting the barn that
much because she loses her interest in the barn, and that too me was aa
very big change.
Last, a change in book Charolette's web was an unordinary change. The
change was to Mr Zuckerman, the change that Mr. Zuckerment went through
was that at first he bought Wilbur from Fern's father because he was
gunna slaughter him, but when Charlotte made the web about Wilbur that
said "some pig" Mr Zuckermen found out Wilbur was a special pig and
decided not to slaughter him.
In conclusion, I think that one of the big idea's in Chorlette's Web
was going through change, because Fern, Wilbur, and Mr Zuckermen through
change.
